SCOUTING REPORT
Buchtel: Former Buchtel running back, current head coach Ricky Powers looks to continue the Griff tradition of bring a dominant running game to face it’s opponents in 2009. The Griffins will have their hands full traveling to an always hostile Tiger Stadium where they’ve always had trouble, only beating the Tigers one time in this the series’ tenth year. Coach Powers and the Griffs will rely on it’s experienced Offensive line led by Tackle Fred Richardson, to open holes for Buchtel’s committee of athletic running backs, an inexperienced defensive line may prevent the Griffins for winning again in Massillon this year.
Massillon: Coming off a 2008 season which ended in a 14-7 first round playoff loss to Mr. Football Erik Howard and the North Canton Hoover Vikings, Coach Jason Hall looks to build on last year’s success. The Tigers will look to their dangerous dual threat Senior Quarterback Rob Partridge to carry their offense that returns playmakers Bo Grunder who caught 4 touchdowns in last years meeting with the Griffins, and Sr WR Trae Gaines. Looking for a repeat of last year’s opening week performance, the Tigers will look to take advantage of the holes in the young Buchtel front 7 and gear up their offense up for a typical grueling Massillon schedule.
PREDICTION
38-23 TIGERS I can’t see the Tigers letting the Griffs beat them in their own house especially since they have only lost to them only once before ever. It should be entertaining but Stark County continues its dominance over Summit County.

VS.
SAINT CHARLES CARDINALS 0-0
Date
Friday, August 28th, 2009
Time
7:30pm
Site
St. Charles Stadium Columbus, Ohio
Last Meeting
43-13 won by Ursuline in 2007
Gamebreakers
St Charles- #5 WR Mike Ryan Sr, #10 QB Shane Bauman Sr, #76 OT Justin Stumph Sr., #1 WR/RB Jourdan Wickliffe Jr.
Youngstown Ursuline- #3 QB/LB Dawalyn Harper Sr, #4 QB Paul Kempe Sr, #28 RB Allen Jones Sr, #6 Ath DeAndre Harris Sr.
Scouting Report
St. Charles- The Cardinals are led into the match-up by 1st year Head Coach but long time assistant Jeff Pharion. The 1st year coach expects his offense to be the strength of his team, returning all 11 starters from last year Sr. Quarterback Shane Bauman looks to hook up with his favorite target from 2008 Sr. WR Mike Ryan (ranked 150th in Ohio according to scoutingohio.com). Bauman was 5th in passing yards in Central Ohio in 2008 and will also look to Jr. Jourdin Wickliffe to boost the Cardinals 22 point a game scoring average from 2008. Sr. Offensive tackle Justin Stumph anchors the senior filled offensive line, and has reportedly been offered scholarships from Northwestern, Indiana, and a couple of MAC schools. Coach Pharion and the Cardinals are going to have their work cut out for them taking on the defending Division V State Champs in the Irish.
Youngstown Ursuline- Coming off a pefect 15-0 season Coach Dan Reardon and his Ursuline Fighting Irish football seem to armed and reloaded. Even without one of the state’s best player’s last year in DE Jamel Turner who will not be returning to Ursuline this fall, the Irish have one of the deepest backfield’s in the state led by a two headed monster at Quarterback, Paul Kempe and Dawalyn Harper who also was an all-state Linebacker last year and headed to Toledo in 2010. A concern for the defending champs may be it’s inexperience on the offensive and defensive fronts returning only 2 starters on both. Ursuline will look to spread the St. Charles defense and use their speed and athleticism will bring the heat with a couple potential All-State linebackers.
PREDICTION
34-16 IRISH The irish should be to fast and athletic for the cards I think that the NE Ohio boys will come to the City on a mission and make short work of St. Charles
